InterNACHI Certified (CPI) Home Inspector Coastal Property Inspections founder Chris Knappett 
learned woodworking from his Grandfather in Victoria BC, Canada, restoring and building wooden boats. He starting early, as a spry and impressionable four year old. As a young teen of 14, he had his first workshop. Often he would scout the neighborhood, helping neighbors, friends and family members with their home repair and remodeling projects, and fixing and repurposing all sorts of anything imaginable. This passion for the “do-it-yourself” has spanned multiple decades, but his real joy is as a craftsman.  This all started at the young age of 14 in the suburbs of a Seattle town named Shoreline. He enjoyed woodworking, furniture design and building, as well as finish interior carpentry, cabinetry, and built-ins every day since that very first shop.

Chris attended and graduated from the University of Washington in the Seattle area, and held major business and technical managerial and consulting positions, After successfully selling his IT consulting business in the early 2000’s, Chris sold his home in Issaquah, Washington, moving to the warm and sunny confines of Southern California in Laguna Niguel.
​Home Inspection is a natural progression for Chris. He has a very detailed working knowledge of Homes. He is very familiar with building materials and construction techniques, electrical and plumbing, as well as the mechanical (HVAC and ventilation) and technology systems in homes. Captured through many years of working with these systems, Chris understands much of how they work, and contributors to those occasions they do not work. He understands well that effective Property Inspections spans beyond the technical system analysis alone, and the best technical knowledge in the world is rendered moot if the inspector is not able to transfer their observations to the Client. Chris truly enjoys people.  He has  the ability to get along and relate to all sorts of different people and possesses excellent verbal, written, and listening skills.
Chris has two grown children which reside in WA and Idaho.
Chris and Suzanne decided to create Coastal Property Inspections in 2020 and combine their strengths to provide and excellent service to home buyers, sellers and the real estate community.  Suzanne holds her CA real estate broker's license (24 years) and understands how the home inspection process effects the home buying process for the real estate agents, home buyers and the home sellers. She also heads up our marketing and customer service for Coastal Property Inspections, so feel free to call and ask her about our services!
